People are constantly in the information space, This space incorporates all types of communication and the exchange and dissemination of information on various platforms such as radio and television, newspapers and magazines, social media, outdoor advertising etc.

Individuals tend to select that part of the informative space whose language of communication they know best and where the messages and opinions expressed match their own. Different information spaces can be observed in Latvian society in which opinions on various issues can differ sharply.

Our task is to promote the narrowing of this information divide by creating as broad and diverse as possible common information space that will attract various sections of society, to strengthen a high quality and democratic information space, and to widen the role of the mass media in integration

The National Security Concept lays out the connection between the information space and the integration of society.
